Graveside service for Evelyn I. Paul will be held at Northlawn Memory Gardens in Iowa Falls at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov.  27, 2021 with Pastor David Schultz officiating.

 Evelyn’s family would like to invite you to a Celebration of her Life at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Iowa Falls, immediately following the graveside service.

 Evelyn Irene Paul, the daughter of Henry and Clara (Ellefson) Grupe was born on Jan. 2, 1935 in Popejoy. She died on Nov. 17, at the Palo Alto County Hospital in Emmetsburg.

 Evelyn graduated from Alden High School before marrying Marlyn Paul on Feb. 21, 1953 in Alden. The couple made their home in rural Swea City where they raised seven children.

 She was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Swea City and Zion Lutheran Church in Alamo, Texas and active in the women’s activities. She was a servant of God in many ways. In her free time, Evelyn enjoyed gardening, sewing and quilting. Marlyn and Evelyn moved to Alamo, Texas in 2014. She was a wonderful cook, especially her fried chicken and gingersnap cookies. Evelyn loved to attend her children and grandchildren’s sporting events.

 Evelyn is survived by her husband, Marlyn Paul of Swea City and Alamo, Texas and now residing in Emmetsburg; her children, Sandra (Steven) Larsen, Swea City, Michael (Susan) Paul, Lafayette, Ind., John (Sharon) Paul, Swea City, Jeanette (Craig) Barslou, Algona, SueAnne (Brian) Deitering, Emmetsburg and Albert (Lynn) Paul, Ismay, Mont.; 18 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Kathy Paul, Armstrong; her sister, Susan Newhall; sisters-in-law, Donna Grupe and Phyllis Clemens;  as well as numerous nieces and nephews and many other extended family members and friends.

    She is preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Clara (Ellefson) Grupe; mother and father-in-law, Albert and Elnora Paul; a son, Steven Paul; siblings, Dale Grupe, Elsie (Irvin) Hegland, Carl “Frank” (JoAnn) Grupe, Esther (Ken) Skartvedt and Henry “Bill” Grupe; and brothers-in-law, Rich Newhall and Tom Clemens.
