Donald Ray Riedinger died on May 3, 2023. Don was born in Osceola and died in Fort Dodge.
Don grew up in Algona and attended the public school system. Don graduated from Algona High School in 1967. Next, he went to University of Northern Iowa and received a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Education. Don was an Industrial Arts teacher at East High School in Des Moines. Don had a long technical career in Ames, Boulder and Golden, Colo. Don had many different jobs and several in Research and Development. Don was a caregiver to his father for his last years.
Don was passionate about taking care of his home and stayed busy with many projects. Don always liked electronics and was very passionate about taking on new projects. Don enjoyed cycling and always had a bicycle nearby.
Preceding Don in death were his parents Lyle and Helen Riedinger as well as his stepmother Edna Fowler Riedinger. Don is survived by three younger brothers; Randy (Diane) Riedinger, Alexandria, Va., Eric Riedinger, Des Moines and Ron Riedinger Humboldt. Four nephews and nieces: Christopher (Jennifer) Riedinger; Laura (Jeff) Riedinger Beals; Melissa (Gregg) Mederios; Benjamin (Emily) Riedinger.
Don had 12 great-nephews and nieces, Alexandra and Drake Riedinger, Julia and Nicole Beals, Elijah, Obadiah, Zohara, Leor, Leah and Rebekah, Medeiros, Chloe and Wyatt Riedinger.
A celebration of Life is being planned for September in Algona at the Smith Lake Nature Center. Memorials for Don Riedinger will be for the Smith Lake Nature Center Algona.
