A Celebration of Life for Don Wolfe is planned to begin at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 5, 2023, at the St. Joseph - Bode Hall, Hwy 169, St. Joseph.

Donald Francis Wolfe was born on Aug. 19, 1948, in Algona. He was the third child of Francis and Nadine (Hewitt) Wolfe. His surviving family includes sister Diana, and brothers Jim, Kent and Mark. He was raised on the family farm east of West Bend where hard work was instilled in him.

He graduated from West Bend High School in West Bend. Don was employed at Blacktop Services, Inc.  for 34 years. While employed he worked throughout Iowa and Arizona. He retired as a supervisor in 2022. He was well respected by his coworkers; he considered many of them family.

Don met Ann Rochelle Fish in 1973. Their first date was spent in Emmetsburg enjoying St. Patrick’s Day. They were married on Aug. 20, 1977, in Rutland at the United Methodist Church. They were married for 45 years. They made their home in Humboldt, Rutland, Phoenix, West Bend and St. Joe. They had two children, Joey (Niki), and Chelsea (Colton), and three granddaughters, Paityn, Ava and Blake Wolfe.

Don enjoyed his free time. On most fair-weather days he could be found riding his Harley with Ann at his side. He enjoyed spending time with friends and family. During the winter months, if he wasn’t tinkering in his shop, he was watching football and cheering on the Kansas City Chiefs.

Don died July 15 at Emerald Oak Apartments in Emmetsburg. He was 74. The world is a sadder place without Don in our lives. He touched all of us and left us with memories we will cherish forever.

Don was preceded in death by his beloved wife Ann and his parents.
