Delores Anne Krause was born April 7, 1938, in Boone, the youngest daughter of Clarence and Florence (Davis) Sturtz. She attended Ogden High School where she graduated from in 1956. Dee played basketball in school and spent her free time at the roller-skating rink. Growing up, Dee was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Ogden where she was confirmed on April 6, 1952. She also taught bible school, Sunday school, and was a member of the junior and senior choir. Following high school, Dee worked at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Dodge as a P.B.X operator.

On Dee’s return trip to Ogden from visiting her sister in California by train she met Howard Krause, who was also returning home to Iowa. The two struck up a conversation and the rest is history. On Nov. 18, 1956, Howard and Dee were united in marriage at Zion Lutheran Church in Ogden. They were blessed with three daughters; Julie, Joni and Jill. They made their home in rural Lone Rock. The couple spent many hours working beside each other in the field. They were active members of the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Lotts Creek.

Nothing was more important to Dee than her family. When the girls would be involved in music or speech contest, the couple would delight in supporting them at their contests. When they would return home, she would surprise them with a cake as a celebration for their accomplishments. Dee enjoyed decorating, cooking, crocheting, sewing and watching the lake. She and Howard often hosted card parties and enjoyed traveling to fishing destinations with family and friends. One of Dee’s favorite things to do was handing out crosses to anyone and everyone, no matter where she was.

Dee and Howard retired and moved to Spirit Lake in 1989 where they enjoyed many years together. While living there, they were members of Immanuel Lutheran Church for 30 years.

Dee became a resident of Good Samaritan Society - Algona in Nov. of 2021. She died there on March 6, 2022, at the age of 83.

She is survived by three daughters, Julie (Mike Pruett) Miller of Fort Dodge, Joni (Lynn) Underwood of Lone Rock, Jill (Brett) Hosch of Johnston; seven grandchildren, Amy (Andrew) Sterk of Golden Valley, Minn., Eric (Sara) Reimers of Humboldt, Sarah (Ben) Blaylock of Polk City, Nicole (Josh) Hendrickson of Fort Dodge, Melissa (Nate) Evans of Fort Dodge, Calee (Brock) Beadle of Lone Rock, Justin Hosch of Johnston; 11 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death are her husband, Howard; parents; son-in-law, Bob Miller; and four siblings.
