Connie Ristau, 76 of Algona, passed away Friday, Jan. 24, 2025, at the Good Samaritan Society in Algona. Funeral services will be held on Friday, Jan. 31 at 11 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Algona. Interment will take place at Lu Verne Township Cemetery in Lu Verne. Visitation will be held on Thursday, Jan. 30 from 4 until 7 p.m. at Trinity Life Center at Trinity Lutheran Church in Algona. Connie Jean Ristau, the daughter of Wayne Arlo and Georgiann Luetta (Baumgartner) Sanford, was born on April 3, 1948, in Fort Dodge. She graduated from Lu Verne High School in 1966. In November 1969, Connie was united into marriage to Daryl Ristau at the Methodist Church in Lu Verne. During her working career, Connie was a bank teller at multiple banks, retiring from Farmer’s State Bank. She spent several years as a caretaker for her mother and father.
Connie enjoyed her flower gardens, feeding the birds and had a love for cats. Her friends were the highlight of her life and Connie was known as the leader of always getting everyone together.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughters: Gina Cook of Algona and Laura (Mike) Schiek of Fort Dodge, and their daughters: Lydia of Ames and Ellie of Fort Dodge. Sister- in- laws Susan Hefty and Carol Easterhaus (Pete) and brother-in-law David Ristau. She is also survived by grand dogs Moose, Brea, Bailey and Beau and one grand cat Frank.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Wayne and Georgiann Sanford and her husband: Daryl Ristau. In-laws Harold and Martha Ristau, brother-in-law Dennis Hefty and sister-in-law Melissa Ristau.
The family would like to express a deep appreciation for all the staff at Good Samaritan in Algona, Serena and all of the hospice team from Hospice of the Heartland, as well as Barb Harms.
