Cindy Massey, 71 of Algona, passed away Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at MercyOne Medical Center in Mason City. Cindy’s family hosted a Celebration of Life on Saturday, April 26, at 2 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Algona. Services have been entrusted to Lentz Funeral Home of Algona. Cindy Laura Renstorf Massey, the daughter of Mardell W. Rengstorf and Janie Avonell Massey, was born on May 19, 1953 in Webster City. She graduated from William J. Palmer High School in Colorado Springs, Colo. in 1971. After graduating, Cindy attended Bethel College of Nursing in Colorado Springs, Colo. She worked at Penrose Hospital in Colorado Springs as a nurse and later taught at Iowa Lakes Community College in Emmetsburg. Cindy also worked for Exceptional Opportunities in Algona for several years.
Cindy was a member of First United Methodist Church in Algona where she loved volunteering in the kitchen and helping with children’s programs. She also loved growing up in, returning to visit and reading the history of Colorado Springs, Colo. where she grew up. Cindy is remembered by her friends as a kind, compassionate and positive person with a devilish sense of humor. Cindy will be missed by many, but none moreso than “her girls,” Lori and Carol.
