Ardith “Ardie” Knecht, age 90 of West Bend, passed away Sunday, March 19, 2023, at West Bend Health and Rehabilitation in West Bend. Mass of Christian Burial was held on Thursday, March 23 at 10:30 a.m. at Divine Mercy Catholic Parish - Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in West Bend. Mass will be livestreamed via Lentz Funeral Home’s website. Burial took place at the West Bend Cemetery. Visitation was held on Wednesday, March 22 from 5 until 7 p.m. with a Catholic Daughters of America Rosary at 4:45 p.m. at Divine Mercy Catholic Parish - Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in West Bend. Services have been entrusted to Lentz Funeral Home of West Bend. www.lentzfuneralhome.com.

Ardith Mae Knecht, the daughter of Simon and Matilda (Steil) Henry, was born on Jan. 31, 1933, in Algona. She graduated after 12 years of schooling. After high school, Ardie was employed by the Kossuth County Courthouse as a bookkeeper. On July 12, 1956, she was united in marriage to Roman “Romie” William Knecht at St. Cecelia Catholic Church in Algona. Ardie continued working at the courthouse and in later years she worked for the City of West Bend, Knechts Standard Station for her husband Romie, West Bend Library and Countrymaid in West Bend.

Ardie grew up on a farm where her love for horses bloomed. In her younger years, she was a member of a bowling league. Ardie loved to raise a vegetable and flower garden, read, quilt, crochet, embroider, watch sports on t.v. with Romie, listen to country music and most of all, she loved being able to watch her grandchildren and great-grandchildren during the day. When she became a resident of the West Bend Care Center, Ardie looked forward to the musical entertainment.

Left to cherish Ardie’s memory are her daughters: Becky (Dave) Hefty and Julie (Neal) Montag both of West Bend; nine grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. She was preceeded in death by her son: Bill; husband: Romie; parents: Simon and Matilda Henry and three brothers: Bud, Jack and Tom Henry.
