November 23, 1928 - December 13, 2024
Alice Mae Luedtke, the youngest child of Ernest and Dora (Manning) Luedtke was born on Nov. 23, 1928, on the family farm in Lotts Creek Township, rural Lone Rock. She was baptized on Dec. 16, 1928. Her sponsors were Alvina Manning and Arthur Luedtke. On April 18, 1943, she was confirmed. Alice passed away on Dec. 13, 2024, at Good Samaritan Society in Algona at the age of 96 years.
Alice attended parochial school at Lotts Creek and graduated from Algona High School. Alice spent her entire life on the family farm and adored animals: taking care of them, watching them and just being around them. Not just the usual farm animals though, she also had pigeons, geese and an array of other “exotic” animals.
She was a lifelong member of Immanuel Lutheran Church of Lone Rock, where she was an active member of the Jolly Neighbor Club and Women’s Club. Alice was a Godly woman, participating in many church activities. She knew that Jesus loved her and was around her always and would profess that to her family and friends often.
Alice will forever be fondly remembered as a compassionate, loving and caring person; and the protector of the family. Her life revolved around the care of those in her circle of family and friends. She had the passion to include all of those around her and took her position as a daughter, sister, aunt and second mother very seriously. Ensuring that those she loved were cared for, while they were healthy and especially when they were in ill health.
Alice is survived by her nieces and nephews: Mary Alice (Doug) Goke, Phil (Susan) Skowbo, Margaret (Art Jaggie) Steele; and many loving extended family members.
Alice is preceded in death by her parents; her sisters: Mabel Skowbo and Mildred Neilson; her brothers: Reuben and Rupert Luedtke; and her nephew John Luedtke.
Alice’s family would like to express deep appreciation to the staff at the Good Samaritan Society in Algona on the care and love that was given to her during her stay there.
A funeral service for Alice will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 18 at 10 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lotts Creek. A time of visitation will take place prior to the service from 9 to 10 a.m. and burial will follow the service at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Lotts Creek.
