Approximately 200 people attended the costume party hosted by the Whittemore Warriors 4-H Club Saturday evening in Whittemore.
“The Halloween party was a huge success. Every year our attendance has grown. The club has made this event a big focus. It is our members’ favorite service project for our community,” Co-club leader Jennifer Thilges said.

ALGONA—In August 2022, the National Recognition Program awarded 62,000 students from all around the United States with academic honors for excelling in their classrooms. One of these students was from right here in Algona, Treston Severson.
The Algona Middle and High School volleyballteams raised $2,352.18 for the Kossuth County Cancer Support Foundation. The teams passed the bucket during games, had a bake sale and sold t-shirts to help raise the money to assist those battling cancer in the county. Submitted photo
WEST BEND—The West Bend-Mallard Athletic Boosters received a contribution from NEW Cooperative that will aid in the purchase of a new scoreboard for the high school gymnasium.
NEW Cooperative Foundation Director Gary Moritz recently presented the check totaling $1,500 to the boosters.
The NEW Cooperative Foundation recently presented a contribution totaling $2,500 to North Central Iowa Ag in the Classroom (NCI AITC).
The funding will be used to provide information about agriculture to preschool through eighth grade students in area schools during the 2022-2023 school year.
NCI AITC is a non-profit organization that provides instruction of ag-based curriculum in 10 north central Iowa counties.
Algona Chapter Order of the Eastern Star members attended the Iowa Grand Chapter meeting October 20-23 in Cedar Rapids. KOSSUTH COUNTY—Dementia patients, their family, friends and caregivers can find help, hope and support through the Kossuth County Dementia Care group. They are a non-profit organization providing education, support and resources. The 10 board members have all dealt with Dementia on some level and have a first hand understanding on how it affects a loved one and their family.
There is no cure but there is care for the more than 60 types of Dementia.
A Veterans Day “Meet and Greet” is planned for Friday, Nov. 11 at Twin Rivers Elementary School in Bode. Veterans are asked to meet at 2:10 p.m. in the school cafeteria. KOSSUTH COUNTY—Absentee ballots are now available at the Kossuth County Auditor's Office. Persons can vote at the Kossuth County Auditor's Office up until 4 p.m. on Nov. 7 or they can request an absentee ballot through the mail.
The Kossuth County Auditor’s office will be open Saturday, Nov. 5 from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. for absentee voting.
ALGONA—Rodney Davis, Jay Limbaugh, Todd Louwagie, Lany Mitchell, Tom Nugent, Dr. Brent Owen and Andrea Vinci met on Oct. 24 for an organizational meeting of the new board for the reorganized Algona Community School District.
The oath of office was administered to the board members by Secretary Lisa Chapman.
Rodney Davis was unanimously elected as Board President. Jay Limbaugh as Vice-President.
