The Algona High School Jazz Band earned a first place finish at the North Central IBA District Jazz Festival at The Surf Ballroom in Clear Lake on Monday, Feb. 20. The jazz band was one of six bands competing in Class 3A.

Their first place finish earned them an invitation to perform at the Iowa Jazz Championships at Iowa State University in Ames on April 2. The band last performed at the IJC in 2023.
