Mary Wiltgen, age 95 of Algona, passed away Monday, April 17, 2017, at the Good Samaritan Society in Algona. Private family services will be held.
Mary Margaret Wiltgen, the daughter of Leo William and Grace Josephine (Reiss Mahon, was born on Sept. 20, 1921, in Wilkes-Barre, Pa. She graduated from Hanover High School in 1940 and attended Business College.
Mary married Clarence Joseph Wiltgen, on Feb. 8, 1947, in Wilkes-Barre. She worked in the war department at the Pentagon during World War II. From 1968 until her retirement in 1991, Mary was a devoted homemaker and Seton School Librarian. She was a member of St. Cecelia Catholic Church and Catholic Daughters of America where she served as Vice Regent. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, knitting, crafts and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mary is survived by her daughters, Mary (Ed) Nygaard of Algona, Joan (Ted) Malo of Rutland and Ruth (Bob) Litz of Eagan, Minn.; son, John Wiltgen of Dallas, Texas; six grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clarence; daughter in infancy, Mary Margaret Wiltgen; brothers, James, John and Joe Mahon and sister, Grace Helfrick.
