ALGONA — Lyn Anderson, age 87 of Algona, passed away Monday, Oct. 30, 2017, at the Good Samaritan Society in Algona. Funeral services were held on Friday, Nov. 3, 2017, at 11 a.m., at First Lutheran Church in Algona. Burial took place at Fort Snelling National Cemetery at a later date. Visitation was held on Thursday, Nov. 2, 2017, from 4-7 p.m., at Lentz Funeral Home in Algona. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Lyn’s name to the Algona EMS Department.
Lynthon Clarence Anderson, the son of Arthur and Hazel (Lundeen) Anderson, was born on Nov. 5, 1929, in Fridley, Minn. He graduated from High School and enlisted into the U.S. Air Force in October of 1951. He was honorably discharged in September of 1954. While serving with the Air Force, Lyn met Gayle Ann Schell and the couple was married on June 17, 1952, in Fakenham & Sculthorpe, England.
Lyn then attended Brown Institute for Radio Broadcasting. Lyn owned a night club in Arden Hills, Minn., was employed by KCFI in Cedar Falls and KLGA in Algona where he was the voice of Algona and Garrigan Sports. He also was a bus driver for Algona schools and worked for the Algona EMS Department. In his spare time, Lyn loved to golf.
Left to cherish Lyn’s memory are his brother, Alex Anderson of Columbia Heights, Minn.; sisters, Arlene Hakanson of Brooklyn Park, Minn. and Gene Ness of White Bear Lake, Minn.; numerous nephews and nieces; many friends and devoted neighbors. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gayle; parents; brother, Arthur Anderson and sister, Marlyn Dahlberg.
