LETTERS topics: Freedom to choose / Evictions

This week's letters to the editor are on these topics:
We must fight for freedom of choice
To the Editor:
It has come to the attention of citizens of Kossuth County, surrounding counties and states, that the wellbeing of our healthcare system is being threatened. We are at risk of losing some of our excellent physicians and nurses if they do not take the COVID vaccine by 9.21.21. This is cohersion and jeopardizes the principles America was founded on. The right to choose is being severely violated.
Censorship is rampant, as evidenced by “Fact Checkers” on Facebook. ICI, “Informed Choice Iowa” platform was removed. (Their newsletter is available via informedchoiceiowa.com/contact.) We are being bribed (Polk County will give you free food at the Iowa State Fair if you get vaccinated), threatened, silenced, censored in astounding numbers.
This is not about receiving the vaccine. This is about the right to voice your opinion and to choose whether or not to receive the vaccine based on your individual health status, beliefs and choice.

The clock is ticking because of evictions

To the Editor,
The clock is ticking for 30,000 Iowans.
Just as school is about to begin, thousands of Iowa families who lost their job or income during the pandemic are now facing eviction.
While the pandemic itself is not the fault of Governor Reynolds, her failure has been to respond to the needs of these hard-working Iowa families who are at risk of losing their homes.
On July 31, the federal moratorium on evictions and foreclosures will be lifted. That date was set after Congress sent $195 million to Iowa in January. That money was intended for rental and utility assistance to help families that were struggling during the pandemic to stay in their homes.
