Actually, according to a St. Louis virus research expert, the medical virus researchers have been working on a vaccine for another virus (HIV-AIDS) for over 10 years (without success due to rapid mutations). However, by adapting the process and adjusting for COVID virus - vaccines for COVID were made rather quickly. We have research showing 8-9 months of protection (since first vaccines given). Yes, a booster might be needed – the research is ongoing.
