In Kossuth stop, Naig comments on livestock industry, potential EV impact on biofuels

LU VERNE—Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig stopped on a farm near Lu Verne and at Suidae in Algona Friday, May 28. 
During his first stop, he fielded a few questions from media.
On the state of the hog industry following the liquidation of some hog herds in the spring of last year due to the impact of COVID-19, he said, “The good news is that, by the end of summer 2020, processing capacity was back to 100 percent, and that’s absolutely due to the fact that you had an essential workforce that showed up and worked. There was a lot of lessons learned about how to protect that workforce, and PPE and distancing and all those types of things. A lot was learned to make that happen."
