Jones retires from POW board

Lead Summary

Glenn Jones, who will be 95 nest month, moved to Algona with his parents in 1941 when he was 16 years old. World War II was raging in Europe while the United States watched and waited until Dec. 7,1941, when Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor, thrusting the U.S. into war.
Five times in the ensuing four years, Jones took physicals in an effort to join the war effort. He failed each time because of his enlarged heart. He did have a nephew who served and interestingly, the nephew's name was John Paul Jones, reminiscent of the famous Revolutionary War hero who uttered the famous line, "I have not yet begun to fight."
