Jean Therese Nolan died, Thursday, Oct. 13, 2016, at Good Samaritan Society – Algona. She was 80.
A funeral mass was held at 10 a.m., on Saturday, Oct. 15, 2016 at St. Cecelia Catholic Church, Algona, with the Rev. Jeremy Wind Officiating. Visitation was held from 5 to 6:30 p.m., with a 5 p.m. Rosary and a 6:30 p.m., Scripture Prayer Service at Oakcrest Funeral Services in Algona. Interment was held at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery in Emmetsburg at 12:30 p.m., on Saturday, Oct. 15.
Jean Therese Nolan was born on Sept. 10, 1936 in Emmetsburg, Iowa. She was the daughter of John Sr. and Helen (Ford) Nolan.
She grew up in Emmetsburg graduating from Emmetsburg High School in 1954. After high school she attended EJC Junior College in Emmetsburg and continued her education at the University of Northern Iowa where she got her BA degree.
After college, Jean taught school for 10 years, worked as an aid at Good Samaritan for 14 years and Home Health for 20 years until retiring in 2006.
Jean enjoyed crocheting, knitting, drawing and traveling. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family. She was very strong in her faith. Jean was a member of St. Cecelia Catholic Church.
She is survived by her sisters, Anita Keifer of Iowa City and Ruth (David) Rouse of Emmetsburg; brother, Bob Nolan of Emmetsburg; sister-in-law, Carole Nolan, many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Preceding her in death are her parents, brothers, John Jr. and Patrick Nolan; sister, Marge Berens, brothers-in-law, Gene Keifer and Wayne Berens and sister-in-law, Alice Nolan.
