Randy Rey Renshaw, age 66, of Sioux City, died Tuesday, April 25, 2017, at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City.
Funeral services were held Saturday, April 29, 2017 at 2:30 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. Burial followed in the Buena Vista Memorial Park Cemetery in Storm Lake. Visitation took place one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
Randy Rey Renshaw was born Nov. 18, 1950, in Storm Lake, the son of Jack and Helen (Anderson) Renshaw.
In his youth, he was baptized and confirmed at the United Methodist Church in Storm Lake.
Randy attended school in Storm Lake, graduating from Storm Lake High School in 1969. He continued his education at Iowa Central Community College in Fort Dodge where he studied Radio Broadcasting.
On Feb. 12, 1972, Randy married Netti Smith at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. The couple was married for 12 years and had two children, Erin and Ben. Randy married Lynn Costello on Oct. 21, 1989, at the Episcopal Church in Sioux City. That marriage was blessed with one child, Conner.
Randy began his broadcasting career at KAYL Radio in Storm Lake during high school. In 1973, he started as a professional at KLGA Radio in Algona. After 13 years, he transferred to KSCJ Radio in Sioux City. After a brief time in some larger markets, Randy came back to Sioux City, where he called “home”.
Randy was a true music lover, especially of the band, Chicago. He even obtained his life-long dream personally meeting the band members with Erin in November of 2016. Outside of his career, Randy loved fishing, which was a hobby that started back when he was a young child. Randy took many fishing trips with his parents, sons, and best friend, Ray. Randy also liked to spend time with Connie on many vacations and cruises.
Those left to cherish his memory include his children: Erin (Dale) Lappe of Wesley, Iowa; Ben (Stephanie) Renshaw of Algona; Conner Renshaw of Maurice; grandchildren: Megan, Matthew, Emily, Eden, and Navan; fiancé, Connie Lanagan of South Sioux City, Neb.; best friend, Ray Watt of Springfield, Illinois; extended family and friends.
Randy was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Helen Renshaw.
