Edward Kenneth Gentry, son of Homer and Anna (Schabacker) Gentry was born Nov. 5, 1936, in Havelock. He attended school in Havelock. Edward entered the U.S. Army and was stationed at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo. While there, he met his future wife, Shirley.  
On Sept. 28, 1957, Edward married Shirley Evelyn O’Haver in Rolla, Mo. He and Shirley were blessed with four children.

Monte Harken, age 46, of Mason City, Iowa and formerly of Algona, passed away on Dec.18, 2016, at the Mercy Medical Center of North Iowa in Mason City.
Graveside services will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, Dec. 23, at the Belmond Cemetery in Belmond. Visitation will be 4-6 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 22, at Lentz Funeral Home in Algona.

RENWICK — A funeral service for Vesta Mae Anderson was held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2016, at the Renwick United Methodist Church.  Visitation was held from 5- 7 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 12, 2016, at Oakcrest Funeral Services, Renwick. Graveside services will be held in Amsterdam Cemetery, Kanawha, Iowa.
Vesta passed away Thursday, Dec. 8, 2016 at Hancock County Memorial Hospital, Britt. She was 91.

LIVERMORE — Freda Cran, age 92, of Livermore passed away on Dec. 9, 2016, at the Kossuth Regional Health Center in Algona.  Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Livermore with the Rev. Steve Struecker officiating. Burial will take place in Union Cemetery in Livermore. Visitation was Tuesday from 4-7 p.m., at Lentz Funeral Home in Livermore.

Funeral Mass for Gerald “Jerry” Thilges was celebrated on Saturday, Dec. 10, 2016, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Cecelia Catholic Church with the Rev. Edward Girres officiating. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery.
Gerald Benjamin Thilges was born Sept. 13, 1941, in Algona, the son of Arthur and Agnes (Besch) Thilges. He grew up in Algona where he also attended school and was in the first graduating class from Bishop Garrigan High School in 1960.

There will be a Scripture Prayer Service beginning at 7 p.m.

He was born Aug. 8, 1935, on the home place in Riverdale Township the sixth child of Arthur and Rosalia (Bormann) Illg.

ALGONA — Zeno Reising, age 80, of Algona, passed away on Sunday Dec. 4, 2016, at his home. Mass of the Christian Burial was held on Wednesday, Dec. 7, at St. Cecelia Catholic Church in Algona, with the Rev. Ed Girres celebrating. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery in Algona.

William J. “Bill” Elbert, Sr., awesome husband, dad, grandpa, great grandpa, brother, uncle, friend, proud veteran, police officer and pioneering probation officer passed away on Nov. 25, 2016, at the age of 82. 
Bill will always be remembered for being an honest and compassionate person who cared deeply for his fellow human beings, especially those he considered “underdogs.”

Rosemary Hutchison, 65, of Wallingford, passed away on Nov. 29, 2016, at Avera Holy Family Hospital in Estherville.
Funeral services were held at 5:30 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 3, 2016, at Nazareth Lutheran Church in Armstrong. Henry-Olson Funeral Home of Estherville was in charge of arrangements.

Funeral services were held on Monday Nov. 28, 2016, at the Burt Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Dr. Glenn Wilson officiating. Burial was held in the Burt Township Cemetery.
