WHITTEMORE — Funeral Mass for Elmer Steier was celebrated on Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2017, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Whittemore with the Rev. Edward Girres officiating. Burial was in St. Michael’s Cemetery with military honors provided by the Seely-Walsh American Legion Post #425 of Whittemore.

ALGONA — A funeral service for Alvina Helmers, 95, of Algona, was held Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2017, at 11 a.m., at Trinity Lutheran Church in Algona.  Burial was in East Lawn Cemetery.
Alvina Pauline Helmers was born Nov. 5, 1921, on the family farm near Lu Verne, daughter of Fred August and Emelie (Gronbach) Pergande. She attended country school near Lu Verne and did domestic work prior to her marriage.

BURT — Arlene Wood, age 91 of Burt, passed away, Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2017, at the Algona Manor in Algona. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2017, at 10:30 a.m., at Lentz Funeral Home in Burt with Rev. Ed Girres celebrating. Burial took place in Portland Township Cemetery in Burt.

On Saturday, Aug. 12, 2017, Judy Boyken passed away suddenly at the age of 64. 
She is survived by her children Dan Boyken (Niki) and Amber Parcel (Dan), three grandchildren (Jordyn and Brianna Parcel and Ethan Boyken), father (Leslie Lawrence), brother (Richard Lawrence) and sisters (Barb Lawrence & Connie Morrison).  Judy will also be forever remembered by her extended family and friends.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, Sept. 2, 2017, at 11 a.m., at the Burt Presbyterian Church in Burt with Rev. Dr. Glenn Wilson officiating. Burial took place at East Lawn Cemetery in Algona. Visitation was held on Saturday from 9: a.m. until the time of the services at the Burt Presbyterian Church in Burt.
