A graveside service for Ruby will be held at 1 p.m. on Sunday, March 17, 2024 at Evergreen Cemetery in Britt.
Ruby Willidine (Hoff) Thomas was born April 22, 1926, in Britt; the daughter of Charles and Mary Ellen (Maxam) Hoff. She grew up and attended school in Britt.
Ruby resided in various places including Britt and Fort Dodge before settling into Algona in 1989. Ruby led an adventurous life, working as a waitress in various areas of Iowa and the southwest part of the United States.
On July 1, 1976, she was united in marriage to Robert Thomas.
Ruby’s life was characterized by her faith. She was confirmed at the Methodist-Episcopal Church in Britt on Sept. 10, 1939, and later baptized at the Church of Nazarene in Fort Dodge in September of 1984. Ruby was an active member of the Evangelical Free Church in Algona.
Ruby died due to leg complications on Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2024, at Kossuth Regional Health Center. She was 97. Ruby was looking forward to seeing Jesus face to face.
She is survived by many great-nieces and great- nephews. She is also survived by many cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; stepfather, Clifford Lundberg; a nephew, Gene Brown; and sisters, Dorothy Smith and Olive Gauthier.
