Jacquelyn Demery, age 75, of Algona, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 9, 2023, at the Kossuth Regional Health Center in Algona. No formal services are planned at this time. Lentz Funeral Home of Algona is assisting the family.
Jacquelyn Stone, the daughter of Clifford and Ethel Stone, was born on Nov. 3, 1947, in Indianapolis, Ind. She graduated from high school in 1966. Jacquelyn had worked as a factory worker at Armor Swift Company in Britt. In 1966, Jacquelyn married Richard Wait in Martinsville, Ind. They were later divorced. In 1990, she married Gordon Demery in Britt. They were also later divorced.
Jacquelyn enjoyed bowling and competed in a bowling league in Charles City. She also enjoyed competing as a roller derby queen and a stock car driver. She was a jack of all trades.
Left to cherish Jacquelyn’s memory are her children, Anita Cook of Mason City, Richard (Krista) Wait of Algona and Gerald (Jackie) Wait of Corwith; 16 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and step-sons, Mark Demery of Lehigh and Ty Allen Demery of Mason City. She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband; a son, Ronald Wait; and a daughter, Shannon Wait.
