Letter to the Editor: Homeless Catholic

To the Editor:
Last week’s front page article on the formation of the new Divine Mercy Parish in our region of the Sioux City Catholic Diocese somehow left out the rest of the story.
“Seven parishes unite” is a bit of a stretch when you realize two of those parishes will soon be relagated to church building status. Doors locked, no more weekend masses, no more weekday masses. Basically the death of St. Joseph, Bode and Ledyard Sacred Heart as religious centers for their long-time, faithful and dedicated members. It’s really hard to see the united part of this forced exit from this side of the fence.
