Standing at the graveside of a loved one or friend, we hear those final words of committal, "ashes to ashes, dust to dust ...."
Many of our faith traditions begin the season of Lent with Ash Wednesday. Ashes from palm leaves are mixed with oil, smeared on our foreheads in the rough shape of a cross and those words of the grave are spoken to us: "You are dust and to dust you shall return."
