Hanson 4th, Zabka 7th, Kruse makes NU wrestling history at state tournament

North Union senior Trevor Kruse made history becoming the first wrestler in the seven-year existence of the school’s wrestling program to qualify for the Class 1A state tournament and went 1-2 at 285 pounds at the tourney last week.
After earning an eighth-place medal in last year’s state wrestling tournament, West Bend-Mallard’s Donavon Hanson improved his placing in 2020-2021 by finishing in fourth place in Class 1A at 113 pounds this past weekend at Wells-Fargo Arena.
Algona sophomore Jacob Zabka finished in seventh place at 106 pounds last week at the Class 2A state wrestling tournament held at the Wells-Fargo Arena.
