T-shirts have long been a way for people to express themselves. While working in my booth at the fair last week, a fellow walked by wearing one with three simple words that formed a complex statement: Guns Save Lives.
Hypocrisy used to drive me crazy. Now, I just expect it. I have no idea if the fellow wearing the T-shirt was out to make a statement or just pulled something from the drawer. This has absolutely nothing to do with him. I scribbled a note to myself because I was struck immediately with the juxtaposition of that statement against what Second Amendment rights folks always say: Guns don't kill people, people kill people. In that manner, the T-shirt should have read: Guns don't save peole, people save people.
