Golden Bears win season opener

Lead Summary

Bishop Garrigan tossed in nine three-point field goals and got some quality minutes from its bench in a 50-30 season-opening non-conference victory over the St. Edmond Gaels in a contest played in Fort Dodge.
The black-and-gold came out hot behind the three-point arc, splashing 5-of-7 treys in the opening eight minutes and led 16-9 at the conclusion of the first quarter.
In the second period, the Golden Bears got seven straight points off three steals by junior Alisa Altman to blow the game open and enjoyed a 31-15 advantage at intermission as they took a 42-24 lead in the final eight minutes of action.
