Golden Bears top North Union, 22-6

Lead Summary

Bishop Garrigan denied a valiant effort by the North Union Warriors to top the green-black-and-silver 22-6 at Armstrong on Friday, Sept. 15 as the Golden Bears spoiled the home team’s homecoming festivities.
Neither squad scored in the opening period but the Warriors used a 41-yard punt return by Jordi Rodriguez to start a drive at the Bishop Garrigan 10-yard line to start the second quarter.
Two plays later, quarterback Brenden Anderson, making the first start of his career at the position, rolled to the left and sprinted six yards for a touchdown.  The conversion run failed but North Union led 6-0 with just 52 seconds gone in the second stanza.
The visitors answered immediately by driving 73 yards in 14 plays to take the lead as Drew Bacha ran the final seven yards for the score.  Brad Capesius hit Myles Koob in the right corner of the end zone on the conversion try as the black-and-gold led 8-6 with 6:22 left before halftime.
