For the first time, the Bishop Garrigan Golden Bears volleyball squad got the opportunity to host the annual CYO tournament on Sunday, Sept. 17 as seven schools competed in the tourney.
Carroll Kuemper, the top-ranked team in Class 3A, remained undefeated by winning all six of its matches to take the tournament as Bishop Heelan, ranked No. 5 in Class 4A was the runner-up at 5-1 and LeMars Gehlen, the fifth-ranked squad in Class 1A was third at 4-2.
Bishop Garrigan, ranked 13th in the latest Class 1A rankings was fourth at 3-3 with St. Edmond going 2-4 as Storm Lake St. Mary’s went 1-5 and Remsen St. Mary’s was winless in its six matches on Sunday.
