Golden Bears cruise past North Union

Lead Summary

It has been a tough first half of the season for a young North Union Warrior boys’ basketball team and things did not get any easier on Friday, Dec. 15 as 5-1 Bishop Garrigan squad came calling in Armstrong.
To make things worse, senior post player Hunter Pierce was home sick with the flu, point guard Riley Bauer was also battling the flu and starting forward Blake Crawmer went down in the first quarter with a knee injury.
All those factors along with another nice performance from the black-and-gold saw the Golden Bears flexing its muscles in an 80-41 Top of Iowa Conference victory over the green-black-and-silver.
The contest was never in doubt as Bishop Garrigan scored the first 20 points of the game and held a commanding 23-2 advantage at the end of the first period.
The black-and-gold continued to shoot well in the second quarter as the visitors built a 45-11 lead at intermission and extended its advantage to 68-25 heading into the contest’s final eight minutes of play.
