At Farmers Market, it’s worth the wait

Lines often form on the sidewalks of Dodge and Nebraska streets as customers line up for fresh-baked bars, raspberry jam, local honey, angel food cake or sugar snap peas. The good news is, that time doesn’t have to be unproductive. Many customers find it’s an excellent opportunity to connect with one another and even share recipe ideas.
This week as I helped customers at my vendor table, I witnessed people sharing some scrumptious ideas for cooking beets. I can’t tell you how much I love seeing this. Watching people chat about how they turn their fresh produce into meals is fun and informational for everyone within earshot and often inspires someone to try a new vegetable. This is one of the things I love about our community and our market ─ people’s willingness to connect and share ideas.
