Funeral services for Earl Loss were celebrated on Saturday, April 8, 2017, at 10:30 a.m. at Hillcrest Baptist Church with Pastor Brian Johnson officiating. Burial was in East Lawn Cemetery.
Earl Lee Loss was born Oct. 27, 1932, in Kossuth County Iowa, the son of Stephan and Isabell (Decker) Loss. He grew up on the family farm and attended country school. After his schooling he began farming with his brother.
On March 6, 1954, Earl married Juanita Mitchell in Decorah, before leaving to serve in the U.S. Army. Upon his honorable discharge Earl returned home to farm the family farm. Earl and Nita farmed near Algona their entire married life. 
He loved motorcycling across the country with his wife, Nita, playing pool and entertaining his beloved family and friends with his music.
            Earl died Tuesday, April 4, 2017, at the Lakepoint Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Augusta, Kansas. He was 84. 
Survivors include his children, son, David Loss of Colorado; son, Kevin Loss and wife, Donna of Augusta, Kan.; daughter, Brenda and husband, Jerry Fuerstenau of Mallard; daughter, Linda and husband, Greg Storey of Grand Rapids, Mich. and daughter, Janet and husband, Kevin Unrein of Augusta, Kan., as well as 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Juanita on Aug. 30, 2011; siblings, Stephan, Geneva (Kelber), Marguerite (Faith), Evelyn (Leigh), Alvin and William.
