Dorothy Louise Butterfield was born June 26, 1945, in Algona, the daughter of Benjamin “Ben” and Margaret (Sankey) Butterfield. She grew up near Seneca where she also attended school.
Dorothy was married to Calvin Armstrong, Sr. They later divorced. She moved to Minnesota and later returned to Algona where she lived with her mother. Dorothy worked at Exceptional Opportunities in Burt for a few years. She enjoyed crocheting and doing other arts and crafts projects. Dorothy was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.
Dorothy died Friday, Jan. 20, 2017, at the Kossuth Regional Health Center in Algona. She was 71.
She is survived by her son, Adam and Amy Butterfield and grandson, Michael Butterfield of Nevada; mother, Margaret Sankey of Algona; siblings, Robert “Bob” and Donna Butterfield of Richfield, Minn.; Roy and Jackie Butterfield of Kirkland, N.M.; Leola and Alex Martinez of Amarillo, Texas; Sheri and Ken Lamothe of Thonotosassa, Fla.; Rosie and Scott Boerboom of Apple Valley, Minn.; Albert and Isabel Butterfield of Farmington, N.M.; Janice Nuwash of Blaine, Minn.; and numerous other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her father, Ben Butterfield; daughter, Angela Butterfield and grandparents, Ray and Dorothy Sankey.
Visitation will be April 29, 2017 at 9:30 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m., at Trinity Lutheran Church. A family burial service will follow. All are invited to a luncheon hosted by the ladies of the church at noon.
