Dominick Etherington is NCC champion

It took a little extra time but Dominick Etherington earned the 220-pound title to highlight the performances of the Algona Bulldogs wrestling squad at the North Central Conference championships held in Algona on Saturday, Jan. 21.
Three other Bulldog teammates finished as the runner-ups while three more ended up in third place as the host school finished third in the team race with 169 points.
Webster City won the team title with 199.5 with Clarion-Goldfield the conference runner-up with 190 points.  Algona took third followed by Humboldt, Iowa Falls-Alden, Clear Lake, Hampton-Dumont and St. Edmond in the eight-team field.
Etherington was the second seed and had a first round bye before winning a 4-1 decision over Kyle Wilhms of Clear Lake.  Dominick improved to 25-5 on the season with an exciting 3-1 overtime decision over Webster City’s James Cherry in the finals.
Cameron Petersen at 120 pounds, Mitchell Priebe at 145 and Noah Murphy at 195 all took second for the red-and-black on Saturday in the league tournament.
