Dema Janssen, age 94 of Algona, passed away Sept. 10, 2021, at the Good Samaritan Care Center in Algona. Funeral services were held on Tuesday at 11 a.m., at Trinity Lutheran Church in Algona. Services were livestreamed on the Trinity Lutheran Church’s YouTube page. Burial took place in Evergreen Cemetery in Emmetsburg. Visitation was at 9 a.m. on Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Algona. 
 Dema Mae Hoyt, the daughter of David Fletcher and Sadie Tella (Sims) Hoyt, was born on May 4, 1927, near Missouri Valley. She attended Missouri Valley Country School and after eigth grade, Dema helped at home babysitting and took care of her aunt. On May 4, 1945 Dema was united in marriage with Wilber Phillip Janssen in Emmetsburg. Wilber passed away in 1983 and Dema later married Wayne Keith on May 26, 1989, in Nashua. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Ladies Aid and card clubs. Dema enjoyed crocheting, puzzles, playing cards and teaching bridge. 
 Left to cherish Dema’s memory are her children, Kenneth (Nancy) Janssen of Ames, Gerald of Algona, LeRoy (Barbara) Janssen of Titonka, Betty (Thomas) Sangel of Spirit Lake, Melvin (Judy) Janssen of Emmetsburg and Randy (Nancy) Janssen of Emmetsburg; 17 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; a son, James; siblings, Gwendolyn Stueve, Dona Faye Dahlberg and George Hoyt; and a daughter-in-law, Janet Janssen. 
 Memorials may be made in Dema’s name and directed to Hospice of the Heartland or the Good Samaritan Care Center Christmas Fund. Lentz Funeral Home of Algona is serving the family. Condolences may be left at www.lentzfuneralhome.com
