WAUKON—Waukon is the defending state champion in Class 2A and Algona gave them all they could handle as the orange-and-black continued their hopes of repeating with a hard-fought 24-21 quarterfinal round victory over the Bulldogs on Friday, Nov. 2.
The Indians jumped out to a quick 12-0 lead, but the red-and-black fought back to take the lead at 14-12 and enjoy a 21-18 advantage at halftime before the defending champions rallied for the victory and another trip to the UNI-Dome.
“We are very proud of our kids, they had a great season and one game has not changed that,” said Algona head coach Andy Jacobson.
