A funeral service for Debra Lyn (Madsen) Hovey, 47, of Titonka, was held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 28, 2017, at Good Hope Lutheran Church in Titonka.  Visitation was from 4-7 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 27, 2017, at Oakcrest Funeral Services in Titonka.
Debra was born on Oct. 10, 1969, in Rock Rapids, to William Carl and Janet (Sage) Madsen. Debra graduated from high school and went on to achieve certifications as an EMT, CNA and Medical Aid. 
Debra was married to Jeff Hovey on Sept. 30 1995, and together they have three children. Over the years, Debra worked for Auxi Health, janitorial work, day care, the grocery store in Titonka and for Exceptional Opportunities. Whatever Debra was doing, she found enjoyment in. Some of her favorite things to do while not working were crocheting, cooking and camping.  
Deb had faith in the Lord, and was a member of the Good Hope Lutheran Church in Titonka. With that faith, Debra Lyn Madsen-Hovey fought bravely against cancer. She died on Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2017, at the Titonka Care Center with her family at her side. She was 47 years old. 
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Jeff Hovey of Titonka; children, Brandon (Amanda) Hovey of Hanlontown, Alex (Bri) Hovey of Titonka and Cady Hovey of Titonka; grandchildren, Maddox, Kaden and Ethan Hovey; brothers, Robert Lee Madsen of Merritt Island, Fla., William John (Pam) Madsen; sisters, Carolyn Ann (Robert) Brandt of Titonka, Barbara Kay (James) Thilges of Bode, Jeannette Lucile (Daryl) Chapin of Titonka, Shirlee Renee Alt of Algona, Sharon Kim (Brad) Bengtson of Titonka, Mary Jo (Rodney Norland) of Ionia and Karla Louise (John Schutter) of Titonka; as well as many nieces and nephews, family and friends. 
She was preceded in death by her paternal and maternal grandparents; her parents, William and Janet; mother-in-law, Helen Hovey; sister-in-law Zoe Madsen and a nephew, Daniel Thilges.
The family would like to thank the Titonka Care Center, Hospice Nurses and The University of Iowa Hospital Staff and the Hancock County Health System Hospital staff for all the kindness and professionalism given to them over the years.
