Poor, misunderstood, tasty Brussel sprouts

Poor old Brussel sprouts, they get a bad rap. This fall-season item is often mocked as the green vegetable that no one likes. I have even felt that way about Brussel sprouts myself - in the past. Once we started growing them in our own garden, I discovered that I did like them when roasted. I just didn’t like them when they were steamed and overly smushy. 

They are especially good when you add what I consider to be an honorary spice in Iowa - bacon. Not sure if you are convinced? Then give this easy recipe a try.
