April 18, 1945 — July 1, 2017
Carroll John Sabin, the son of Leo Thomas and Dorothy Viola (Jennings) Sabin, was born April 18, 1945, in Algona. He was raised and educated in Algona and moved to Eagle Grove in 1979.
On Jan. 5, 1974, Carroll married D. Kay Moulton, at the United Methodist Church in Algona. The couple made their home and raised their five children in Algona and Eagle Grove. Carroll enjoyed his years as a heavy equipment operator doing road construction before finding his career with the City of Eagle Grove Street Dept./Public Works Director. Carroll was often referred to as the “Mayor” of his rural neighborhood. Following retirement and ongoing health concerns they relocated to Center Point, to be closer to family.
Carroll enjoyed roller skating, camping, auctions, antique tractors & cars, garage sales, WaHoo, car races, 50’s-60’s music (Elvis), beer with buddies and attending grandkids events…his #1 priority was always his FAMILY.
Carroll passed away on July 1, 2017, at Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha, at the age of 72. His parents preceded him in death.
Carroll is survived by his wife, D. Kay Sabin of Center Point; children: Todd (Deb) Sabin of Hampton, Kimberly (Tony) Hilpipre, of Lancaster, Calif., Kari (Sean) Foong Chong, of Porter Ranch, Calif., Beth Kos, of Clarendon Hills, Ill., Amy (Chris) Hansen of Center Point; 12 grandchildren; sister Sharon Hanson of Mason City and twin sister Carolyn (Jerry) McArthur of Mason City.
