ALGONA — Carol Funnemark, age 68, of Algona, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 1, 2016, at the Good Samaritan Society in Algona. 
Memorial services will be held on Monday, Dec. 12, at 10:30 a.m., at Grace Church in Algona with the Rev. Peter Talbot officiating. Visitation will be held on Sunday, Dec. 11, from 4:30 until 8 p.m., at Grace Church in Algona. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed toward the Good Samaritan Foundation in Carol’s honor.
Carol Jean Funnemark, the daughter of Garel and Bernice (Reaper) Leek, was born on Sept. 21, 1948, in Algona.  She attended Corwith-Wesley School and graduated from Corwith-Wesley High School in 1967. 
Following her graduation, Carol attended Naeve Hospital School of Nursing in Albert Lea, Minnesota and graduated in June 1970. On July 10, 1970, Carol married Bill Funnemark in Algona.  She had worked as the Director of Nursing at the Algona Good Samaritan Society until her retirement on Jan. 17, 2014.  On Jan. 20, 2014, Carol became a nurse consultant for LTC Resources.   
Carol was a member of Grace Church in Algona. She loved her family and attended her children’s and grandchildren’s events. Carol enjoyed working in long term care. She loved riding in the convertible with Bill and traveling, especially to the beach. Carol loved to collect and sell Longaberger and cherished the friendships she made.
Carol is survived by her husband of 46 years, Bill of Algona; her three children, Stephanie (Pete) Hamell of Keller, Texas, Mickolyn (Trent) Clapper of Baxter and Chad (Laura) Funnemark of Oregon City, Ore.; nine grandchildren: Courtney Clapper, Connor Hamell, William Clapper, Daniel Hamell, Trice Clapper, Lainey Funnemark, Sophie Funnemark, Andrew Hamell and Addy Funnemark; two sisters, Janice (Tim) Long of Wesley, and Barbara Maas of Johnston; and many nieces and nephews.
