Bishop Garrigan wins game in overtime

Lead Summary

Ridge View scored two touchdowns in the final two minutes of the game to force overtime but Bishop Garrigan regrouped in the extra session to pull out a 26-20 overtime win over the Raptors.
The Class A district battle was played on Saturday, Oct. 6, 24 hours later than scheduled for due to the rain that moved through the Algona area on Friday evening, although the turf at Conway Field was slick and the footing was not the best.
Ridge View had the lone score in the opening 12 minutes as the team drove 70 yards in 11 plays to take a 6-0 lead with just 21 seconds left in the first period on a nine-yard pass play.
The home team grabbed the lead in the second quarter with 3:55 left before halftime as Bishop Garrigan used a little trickery as running back Drew Bacha hit T.J. Schnurr with a 30-yard touchdown pass.  Bacha ran through a huge hole for the successful two-point conversion as the Golden Bears led 8-6 at intermission.
