Big second half leads WB-M to win

West Bend-Mallard exploded for 40 points in the second half and cruised to a 58-6 eight-man football victory over Clay Central-Everly in a district contest that took place on Friday, Sept. 23 at Royal.
The purple-and-gold started the scoring at the 8:35 mark of the opening stanza when Dexter Knobloch ran 16 yards for a touchdown.  Three minutes later, quarterback Michael Fehr went two yards for a score as the Wolverines held a 12-0 advantage at the end of the first quarter.
The only scoring of the second period came with 8:10 remaining before intermission when Danie Riesenberg hauled in a 53-yard scoring pass from Michael Fehr as the visitors held an 18-0 lead at halftime.
West Bend-Mallard blew the game open in the third stanza, scoring 20 points.  Knobloch started it off with 50 yard run and two minutes later, Thad Fogarty went two yards for a score as the lead suddenly grew to a commanding 32-0.
It became 38-0 later in the period when Michael Fehr ran one yard for a touchdown as the purple-and-gold held that advantage as the game’s final 12 minutes was played with a continuous clock the remainder of the contest.
