Big fourth period lets Bulldogs fly past Eagles

Lead Summary

Algona erupted for 26 points in the fourth quarter to rally from a five-point deficit heading into the frame as the Bulldogs topped West Hancock 67-59.
The Iowa Hall of Pride Challenge Scrimmage took place on Friday, Nov. 17 at Algona.  As part of the Pride Challenge, all participating schools have identified a community service project that is meaningful for their school and community.
Algona has partnered with the Algona Good Samaritan Society to help provide Christmas gifts to their residents and the money raised from the concession stand will go to a local program and the money raised from admissions will go towards a local scholarship in honor of past athletic director Brad Heitland.
West Hancock scored the first four points of the contest and jumped out to an early 11-4 advantage before the home team closed the gap to 13-9 at the conclusion of the first quarter of action.
The Bulldogs cut the lead to 13-11 before the visitors answered with an 8-0 run to take a 21-11 advantage.  But Algona responded by scoring 13 of the next 16 points as the two teams were dead-locked at 24-24 at the halftime break.
