Fourth-ranked Bishop Garrigan raced out to a big halftime lead and cruised to 42-7 homecoming district victory over the Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn/Remsen Union Royals in a contest played at Conway Field on Friday, Sept. 22.
The black-and-gold defense, which was outstanding all night long by holding the visitors to 35 total yards and no first downs, set the tempo of the game on the first series with a three-and-out series.
The Golden Bears’ offense immediately got busy as Drew Bacha dashed 57 yards for a touchdown on the first play from scrimmage. Drake Buscherfeld split the uprights with the conversion kick as the home team led 7-0 with just 1:45 gone in the contest.
