Bishop Garrigan remained undefeated on the year with a convincing 85-60, non-conference boys’ basketball victory over the Mason City Newman Knights in a contest played at Mason City on Saturday, Dec. 2.
The black-and-gold connected on 32-of-53 attempts from the floor for 60.3 percent while being successful on 7-of-12 three-point field goal tries for 58.3 percent and sank 14-of-16 free throws for 87.5 percent in the win.
The Golden Bears started fast in the non-conference tilt as the visitors led 21-12 at the end of the first stanza and then increased its advantage to 42-30 at the halftime break.
Bishop Garrigan broke the game open in the third quarter as they out-scored the Knights 28-14 in the period to take a commanding 70-44 lead heading into the final eight minutes of the contest.
