All season long, the Bishop Garrigan Golden Bears’ defense has been outstanding and a big reason why the squad was 11-0. Friday at the UNI-Dome in Cedar Falls in the Class A state football semi-finals, the defense was called on late one more time for the a trip to the state championship game.
The unit responded yet again with a key stop by Grant Buscherfeld on first down, a 10-yard penalty holding penalty by Council Bluffs St. Albert, a quarterback sack by Drake Buscherfeld and pair of pass incompletions to hold on for a 26-20 victory over the Falcons.
“A total team effort,” said Bishop Garrigan Head Coach Marty Wadle. “It took everyone on the team today to get the win and all of the coaching staff too. I was a great win for our program and I am so proud of each and every one of them for what we accomplished today.
