Funeral Mass for Arnold Kollasch will be celebrated on Thursday, Dec. 29, 2016, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Whittemore with the Rev. Edward Girres officiating. Burial will be in St. Michael’s Catholic Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the Seely-Walsh American Legion Post No. 425.
Arnold A. Kollasch was born March 9, 1924, in Whittemore, the son of Charles and Anna (Laubenthal) Kollasch. He grew up near Whittemore and graduated from the Presentation Academy in 1941. After his schooling he began farming. He served in the United States Army in 1945-1946 and upon honorable discharge returned home to continue farming.
On Jan. 4, 1949, Arnie married the love of his life, Lorene Becker at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Wesley. After their marriage they lived near Whittemore, where they farmed and raised their family. 
Arnie loved farming, being around the farm and was a lifelong learner. He also enjoyed gardening and obtained Master Gardner status.  He was an avid reader, enjoyed volunteering for the church and community. His greatest love in retirement was his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a member of Holy Name, Community Club, Seely-Walsh Post No. 425 of the American Legion and St. Michael’s Parish.
Arnie died Sunday, Dec. 25, 2016, at the Kossuth Regional Health Center in Algona, Iowa. He was 92.
He is survived by his wife, Lorene Kollasch of Whittemore; Luke (Debra) Kollasch of Morristown, N.J.; Linda (Ron) Bodien of Clear Lake; Ann (Mo) Fickbohm of West Bend; Joan (Kurt Hohmeister) Kollasch of Clear Lake; Carol (Brian) Grannon of Fort Dodge; Charlie (Sara) Kollasch of Algona; Mary (Neill) Marshall of Coppell, Texas; 16 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren with five more expected in 2017. Also surviving are siblings; Sr. Ann Marie Kollasch, BVM of Dubuque; Caroline Bormann of Algona; Fr. Eugene Kollasch, S.J. of Milwaukee, Wis.; Delores Kollasch of Algona; Sr. JoAnn Kollasch, O.S.B. of Madison, Wis.; Irene Bormann of Bode; Clem Kollasch of Whittemore and many other brothers and sisters-in-law and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Madonna Kollasch and brother, Louis Kollasch.
