AHS girls improve to 10-3 in NCC

Algona went on the road in North Central Conference girls’ basketball action and came home with a 55-37 victory over the Iowa Falls-Alden Cadets.  
With the victory, the 15th ranked Bulldogs improved to 16-4 overall and are now 10-3 in the league with one game remaining.  The conference game was played at Iowa Falls on Friday, Feb. 3.
The red-and-black started slow and trailed by the score of 11-10 at the conclusion of the game’s first quarter of play.  In the second stanza, the visitors picked up the pace of the contest and took a 24-17 advantage into the locker room at halftime.
In the third quarter, Algona out-scored the home team 16-12 to lead 40-29 as the final eight minutes of play began and then out-pointed the Cadets 15-8 in the final period to make the final score 55-37.
