BGHS boys win Larson Relays

ARMSTRONG—For the second straight meet, the Bishop Garrigan Golden Bear boys’ track squad won the team title on Thursday, April 28 at the annual John Larson Relays.

The black-and-gold won four events during the evening as they amassed 110 team points with West Bend-Mallard finishing in fifth place with 58.6 points and North Union was sixth overall in the nine-team field with a score of 56 points.

NU girls win Larson Relays

ARMSTRONG—Hosting seven other schools, the North Union Warrior girls’ track squad won the annual John Larson Relays held on Thursday, April 28.

The green-black-and-silver amassed a total of 135 points as Bishop Garrigan finished in second place with a score of 92 points and West Bend-Mallard took seventh with 51 points during the evening.

Trapshoot team compete at Humboldt

PALMER—The Algona and Bisop Garrigan High School competed on Wednesday, April 27 in a meet hosted by Humboldt with five teams and 133 shooters participating.

The Algona 8 team had the low score of the day with a team total of 227. Members of the winning squad were James Burma, Cole Harms, Nick Christensen, Chase Roof and Hunter Thilges.

Schiltz takes medalist honor

GARNER—Nick Schiltz picked up the medalist honor to highlight the performances of the North Union boys’ and girls’ golf teams in a Top of Iowa Conference match played on Tuesday, April 25 at the Garner Golf and Country Club.

The Warrior boys had the low team score of 179 to win the league triangular, two strokes better than Garner-Hayfield/Ventura’s total of 181 and Eagle Grove placed third with a score of 199.

Bulldog girls split non-league golf match

SPENCER—The Algona Bulldog girls’ golf squad split a non-conference golf match played on Tuesday, April 25 at the Spencer Golf & Country Club.

Spencer won the match with a winning score of 206, four strokes better than Algona’s team total of 210 and Hull Western Christian placed third with a score of 222.

WB-M girls fall in Twin Lakes match

GRAETTINGER—The West Bend-Mallard Wolverine girls’ golf squad fell on Thursday, April 28 in a Twin Lakes Conference match played at the Graettinger Golf & Country Club.

Pocahontas Area won the league quadrangular with a team score of 208 as Emmetsburg was second with a 214 with Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire took third with a 226 and West Bend-Mallard placed fourth with a team total of 286.

ISB gives to girls BB

The Iowa State Bank generated a grand total of $6,447 from the sale of Bishop Garrigan girls’ basketball tee-shirts recently. Iowa State Bank’s Sara Metzger, Laurie Vitzthum, Jackie Smith and Jason Wartick join the Golden Bear players along with Bishop Garrigan’s activity director Rob Meister.

Warrior boys win two events at Garner

GARNER—First place wins in a pair of events led the North Union Warrior boys’ track team to seventh place finish with 52 points at the Cardinal Boys Relays on Tuesday, April 25.

The gold medal winners for the green-black-and-silver were Carter Morphew in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:00.45 and Bryer Prochniak in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.26.

AHS boys win Clint Stille Relays

EMMETSBURG—Led by six first place finishes, the Algona Bulldog boys’ track team won the Clint Stille Relays on Tuesday, April 25 with 146.3 team points.

Bishop Garrigan also had a good night at Emmetsburg as the black-and-gold ended up in fourth place with 81.5 points and won a total of four different events during the evening.

Bulldog boys drop NCC home match

ALGONA—The Algona Bulldogs hosted a pair of North Central Conference foes on Friday, April 29 at the Algona Country Club.

Webster City won the league triangular with a team total of 165 as Hampton-Dumont took second with a 177 and Algona finished in third place with a score of 200.

Garrett Arnold of Webster City was the medalist of the meet with his nine-hole score of 38 while teammate Drew Schwerh took the runner-up medalist with a score of 40.

WB-M boys finish third in county tourney

GRAETTINGER—West Bend-Mallard finished in third place in the Palo Alto County boys’ golf tournament played at the Hillcrest Golf & Country Club on Friday, April 29.

Emmetsburg placed first in the tourney with a team total of 166 as Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire took second with a 176 and West Bend-Mallard ended up in third place with a score of 206.

NU 2nd, BG 3rd Forest City Relays

FOREST CITY—A pair of area girls’ track squads turned in top three showings in Class B of the Forest City Relays held on Tuesday, April 26.

North Union finished in second place with 114 points just ahead of Bishop Garrigan’s total of 111 that was bested only by Saint Ansgar’s first place score of 118 points.

AHS girls earn gold in four events

FOREST CITY—Earning gold medals in four different events, the Algona Bulldog girls’ track squad placed third in a six-team field in Class A at the Forest City Relays on Tuesday, April 25 with 100 team points.

A’Lailah Perry was an individual double winner for the red-and-black on Tuesday as she took the shot put with a toss of 34’ 8” and the discus with a winning throw of 110’ 7”.

Leerar cards a 36 for Golden Bears

FOREST CITY—Four Top of Iowa Conference boy’ and girls’ golf team competed on Tuesday, April 25 at the Bear Creek Golf Course in a league quadrangular meet.

Forest City had the low team total in the match with a score of 156 as Bishop Garrigan was second with a score of 167 followed by North Iowa with 200 and West Hancock with a 205 on the boys’ side of things.

Bulldogs drop non-conference match

ESTEHRVILLE—Algona dropped a non-conference boys’ golf match on Tuesday, April 25 played at the Estherville Country Club.

Estherville-Lincoln Central won the triangular with a team score of 166 followed by Spirit Lake in second place with a 180 as Algona took third with a team total of 203.

Ryan Schiltz of Estherville-Lincoln Central took the medalist honors with his score of 37 as Isaac Early of Spirit Lake was the runner-up medalist with a nine-hole total of 38.

BGHS boys play in CYO meet

FORT DODGE—The Bishop Garrigan Golden Bear boys’ golf team competed against five other teams in the annual CYO golf tournament held on Wednesday, April 27 at the Lakeside Golf Club.

The black-and-gold finished in fourth place with a team total of 376 as the Carroll Kuemper Knights were the 2022 CYO champions with a team score of 320.
