Oleson fires two-under par 34
Parker Oleson of North Union was the medalist but the depth of the Bishop Garrigan Golden Bear boys’ golf team was the difference as the black-and-gold took a Top of Iowa Conference match played on Tuesday, April 18 in Armstrong at the Country Greens Golf Course.
The Golden Bears fired a team total of 158 to top North Union’s team score of 178 and North Iowa rounded out the three-team match with a team score of 212.
Oleson, the Class 1A state runner-up last year, recorded birdies on Holes No. 4, 5 and 8 on his home course and only a bogey on his third hole of the day was the blemish on his sparkling round of 34.
Logan Capesius, the Class 1A state runner-up in 2015, was the runner-up in 2015, was the runner-up medalist in the meet with an even-par round of 36 for Bishop Garrigan. The senior started his round with seven straight pars before birdieing the eighth hole but bogeyed the final hole for his score.
